Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and television actor who was famous for her portrayal as the fiery attorney Teri Joseph on the Showtime show Soul Food. She is now known by her husband's name, Nikki Kodjoe. Her birthplace and childhood was within Baltimore Maryland. As a child, she displayed an interest in acting. She won the Best Actress Award in the Maryland High School Competition. After her experience in the acting and in "The Washington Ballet Company", she received an acting diploma from New York University. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love, her debut role in a film of major importance, won her great admiration. This was followed by movies such as 'Boogie Nights Spark as well as Blue Streak. Soul Food received a lot of applause for her work. Her TV appearances included Second Time Around and Empire. Earlier in her career she was in several stage productions. Parker who has a keen political interest she is currently married to actor/model Boris Kodjoe. Both have two kids.

Contractor was born from Mumbai in India, was raised in Nigeria from the time she was seven. She'd been exposed to numerous travel experiences and other cultures since a young age. From the age of seven until nine, Contractor attended boarding schools in London. The family later moved to Toronto and she resided there through the majority of her childhood. In Toronto, Contractor excelled in academics and trained as a classical ballerina. At the Etobicoke School of the Arts (a public school for high schools that is specialized in the arts) the student studied dance and theatre. Contractor was just 16 when she realized that performing would be her future career. She danced for almost 10 year. She received a full-scholarship grant to pursue a degree at the University of Toronto after graduating. She earned a master's in theatre, as well as a double major in psychology and social science. After one year at University, Contractor went to an audition on a call-to-action basis for the production Pericles in the highly regarded and renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and was offered the leading role. The year 2002 was a great one for her. Canadian theater critics were awed by her performance during 92 performances of the play. The actor was invited to join Stratford's conservatory course, in which only eight males and four females are selected for a course lasting 20 weeks on the classical stage that she eagerly took. Contractor's spot was assured in the next play, and she landed Hermia's part as Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
